Suzuki two wheeler few days back launched the 150cc Gixxer a street naked bike and a new scooter Lets in the market. The company today revealed its future plans for India. The firm wants to boost its market share and wants to emerge as a major player in the Indian two wheeler market by contributing 30-35 percent of its volumes in the time span of three years.
Suzuki is aiming to produce and sell 1 million units by the end of 2017 and wants to make India a largest volume contributor globally. Currently Indonesia is the country which is the largest contributor globally and the firm wants to overtake it. To achieve their target the company would soon be launching at least 4-6 new products and will also start exporting them.
“In order to sell 1 million vehicles , we need to have a broad product portfolio, which is almost double of our current portfolio and distribution point to three times of today.Even with 1 million units, we may be a fringe player and can’t talk about competing with the top one, two or three, but we will be a profitable company and contributing almost 35% of global volumes” said Atul Gupta, executive vice-president.
The company saw slight growth with its 100cc commuter segment bike Hayate. But during April-December the company sales chart went down by 12.35 percent. Scooter segment also declined by 8.5 percent.
Now the manufacturer is picking up the pace and will launch at least four products in the next two years. We just hope to see some good products from the manufacturer. Currently the manufacturer has four bikes: Inazuma, GS 150R, Hayate, Slingshot Plus. In the super bikes the manufacturer currently has GSX R1000, GSX-R1000Z, Hayabusa, Intruder, bandit 1250 SA.
